Abdominal Pain

Although the abdomen is often thought of as the stomach, the abdomen actually includes the entire area of the body from the chest down to the pelvis. Abdominal pain can originate from the stomach, intestines, kidney, liver, spleen, gallbladder or pancreas.

The location and type of abdominal pain varies depending on the cause.

Immediate medical attention should be sought if abdominal pain is associated with a trauma or injury or if it occurs with fever, vomiting, blood in the stool, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or swelling and tenderness of the belly.
