Abdominal Pain

Abdominal pain is any pain experienced from the chest down to the pelvis. The abdomen is often referred to as the stomach. Abdominal pain can include pain involving the following organs: stomach, intestines, kidney, liver, spleen, gallbladder, and pancreas. The cause of abdominal pain depends on the location of the pain and the type of pain being experienced.

Individuals should seek immediate medical treatment if they have abdominal pain with fever, vomiting, blood stool, difficulty breathing, swelling or tenderness of the belly.
If an individual experiences abdominal pain that is associated with a trauma or injury, or if it occurs with chest pain, 911 should be called.
